Creating Boundaries – creating space

By |November 4th, 2014|Business, Career, Life|0 Comments

Who would have thought my new fence wood inspire this blog post – see what I did there!   For the 3 years we have lived in this property we have had our boundary exposed on one side of the house.  This meant that when sitting down for dinner we would have people take a short cut through our garden – hey  they may as well joined us at the table! Building a new fence means we have a fully enclosed wrap around garden now to both the back and side of our  house – but more importantly it has created a safe space for the kids to play in, a sense of space for us at mealtimes and a boundary people have to acknowledge. Three years in business – the toddler years

By |September 16th, 2014|Business, Career, Life|0 Comments

ABC – easy as 1,2,3 right? YAY! I made it to three years – I think I feel the same about that as a mother as well as a business owner. Deciding to leave my job and fly solo when I had a one and three year old was a bold move but to then relocate to another City a few months after?  I perhaps did not anticipate how much change I was prescribing our family! I am proud to declare my business has reached those three-nager years.  I have worked with clients all over Australia and the UK and am so grateful to everyone that has chosen to work with me to achieve their goals. Qualities of a Coach

By |June 24th, 2014|Business, Career, Life|0 Comments

I recently ran a question through Linkedin about what things were important to consider when hiring a coach.  I was keen to understand what qualities were needed but also to understand the expectation of the person engaging in a coaching relationship. There were a few things that I expected to see listed but also a few surprises so here I thought I would help you consider what may be of importance before reaching out and getting in contact with me. […]

Balance – what is it and how to find it

By |June 11th, 2014|Life|0 Comments

I have been talking with a lot of my clients recently about finding balance.  We have been working out ways to make this busy work dominated life a little lighter by trying new things or mixing up the old things.  Also helping those that are trying to balance part time or full time work and the demands of motherhood. Funny how sometimes my clients situations parallel my own! We are all so busy.  What exactly is “me-time” anyway? […]

One word – focus on 2014

By |December 24th, 2013|Business, Career, Life|1 Comment

Thirty Five percent of people set New Year resolutions but only 23% see them through.   Those that know me really well know I do not believe in setting resolutions.  I see them as a big fat way to set your self up for failure.  Why put yourself through that when you can hone in on one word?  Yes.  One word to enable you to stay on track and focused.   Seems easier right?  But the process of getting there is a little harder.  You need to think through your year, reflect and notice patterns. Your career – your 4 commitments.

By |August 8th, 2013|Career, Life|0 Comments

Guest Post from Arlene Chandler – freelance writer When it comes to pursuing a more fulfilling career, it may seem like there are many external factors working against you; family, location, age, education, or money (or lack of) are excuses that many people use to blame their stagnant, unmotivated state of being. While it’s natural to get comfortable in any situation when you’ve been there long enough, it’s important to never give up on the goals you desire to reach. […]

Richard Branson, Goody Bags and Futurists

By |May 9th, 2013|Business, Career, Life|2 Comments

“I don’t think of work as work and play as play. It’s all living.” – Richard Branson I went along to the Business Chicks breakfast in Brisbane today. At 640am in Merivale Street there was a definate buzz, an energy and a stream of scent in the air as impeccably presented women (and a few men) arrived at the Exhibition Centre for the Richard Branson Breakfast. Now why would you pay $189 to go and see Richard?  Well having read his books, having watched his success, admired the way he keeps his life private, his private island, preferring to fly Virgin etc etc  – here he was in BrisVegas talking to us!  I am not sure we really knew what to expect but there were 1300 of us prepared to be in a room ready to go by 7am  this morning – all excited to be in the same room as Mr Virgin. […]

The chance to change

By |April 10th, 2013|Career, Life|0 Comments

Everything happens for a reason, right?  Every now and again life presents you with a  dilemma. For a moment you may feel stuck.  Unsure of what to do. Scared of the outcome. Yet there is also something exhilarating about moments like these.  They allow you to create yourself. Reinvent yourself. […]

I ‘still’ do – my commitment project

By |March 12th, 2013|Business, Career, Life|0 Comments

So you remember last year instead of banging on about new year’s resolutions I decided to go for one word.  One word that would stand the test of time – ok, ok… represent the year ahead and be able to apply it to all areas of my life: family, health, business.  That word was Commitment – Saying I do to me.  You can read the original post here So it is now mid March and we are 11 weeks into the year and as so many people lose sight of their new year resolution goals I thought it would only be fair to share how I am going.  I do try and practice what I preach you know. […]

I do – my commitment to me

By |January 16th, 2013|Life|0 Comments

So you know from my post last year I am not big on writing about New Year’s Resolutions.  Particularly as so many people will have given up on what they set out to do already – crazy huh?  This year I decided to keep myself accountable to one word.  Just one word that I could apply across all areas of my life.  That word?  Commitment. This year I am saying ‘I do’ to so many areas of my life. […]
