Putting yourself out there!

By |June 5th, 2013|Business|0 Comments

So you have started a new business.  You have spent hundreds of dollars on your website, and hundreds of hours on working out exactly how your business will operate.  You have also lost a few hundred hours getting your head around social media and playing on facebook and instagram (go on you can admit it!) One of the things that helped elevate my business when I launched in October 2011 was to get coverage in the media.  It was a strategy I engaged in early on to enhance my profile in addition to create reach in publications I could simply never otherwise afford. […]

Richard Branson, Goody Bags and Futurists

By |May 9th, 2013|Business, Career, Life|2 Comments

“I don’t think of work as work and play as play. It’s all living.” – Richard Branson I went along to the Business Chicks breakfast in Brisbane today. At 640am in Merivale Street there was a definate buzz, an energy and a stream of scent in the air as impeccably presented women (and a few men) arrived at the Exhibition Centre for the Richard Branson Breakfast. Now why would you pay $189 to go and see Richard?  Well having read his books, having watched his success, admired the way he keeps his life private, his private island, preferring to fly Virgin etc etc  – here he was in BrisVegas talking to us!  I am not sure we really knew what to expect but there were 1300 of us prepared to be in a room ready to go by 7am  this morning – all excited to be in the same room as Mr Virgin. I ‘still’ do – my commitment project

By |March 12th, 2013|Business, Career, Life|0 Comments

So you remember last year instead of banging on about new year’s resolutions I decided to go for one word.  One word that would stand the test of time – ok, ok… represent the year ahead and be able to apply it to all areas of my life: family, health, business.  That word was Commitment – Saying I do to me.  You can read the original post here So it is now mid March and we are 11 weeks into the year and as so many people lose sight of their new year resolution goals I thought it would only be fair to share how I am going.  I do try and practice what I preach you know. […]

Look back to look forward…

By |December 20th, 2012|Business, Career, Life|0 Comments

It is that time of year where we can think about what 2012 was like in it’s entirety.  Where we anticipate what 2013 may bring.  Things we would like to do differently.  The person we want to be, the job or business we want to be in, in the life we want to live.  It is also a great opportunity to really give this reflection the respect and time it deserves.  365 days occurred in 2012.  What moments do you recall?  The good or the bad.  What do you dwell on? What can you do differently next year? […]

A round up, donation and make a wish!

By |September 20th, 2012|Business, Career, Life|1 Comment

Well it has been a fabulous week.  I know, I know I have totally milked this 1st birthday. But you do that with 1st birthday’s don’t you? I am sure next year I will be far more composed.  This year I am giddy with excitement.  I have had an amazing week let alone year! So you know the theory of what you put out there you get back in return?   […]

365 – an amazing year – thank you!

By |September 18th, 2012|Business, Career, Life|0 Comments

So here we are.  Hip Hip Hooray. I made it.  We made it! I think I have often referred to this when asked what it is like to run my own show.  Running your own business – you approach each day with equal parts of anxiety and excitement – this, my friend, is called motivation! So 365 days in.  Am I operating any differently to when I was only 30 days in business? Not really.  Perhaps consistency is the key? […]

Resiliency – a personal reflection

By |September 16th, 2012|Business, Career, Life|0 Comments

When an invite came through recently for a workshop on the art of Resilience I immediately replied.  Yes. Not only do I look forward to networking with other coaches in Brisbane face to face, I was also really interested in the topic. Some of you may know that 2011 was a pretty testing year for me (and others).  But for some of my clients 2012 has been a tough year.  So, notebook under arm and pleased to be socialising with adults of a Saturday morning I headed to the workshop in sunny Paddington. […]

Take a good look at your business…

By |April 10th, 2012|Business|0 Comments

This time of year I focus on getting all my receipts together and trawl through expenses groaning as I wish I had a system to get through this Tax time efficiently.  Hang on…didn’t I say that last year? There is a sense of achievement as you wrap up one financial year and focus on the year ahead.  It gives you chance to get back to basics on some aspects in your business.  I have talked before about how many hats you wear as a business owner.  This time let’s tackle your business plan. […]

Now where did I put my mojo?

By |February 10th, 2012|Business|0 Comments

While chatting with a business client the other day she revealed something quite raw.  It took a little time to build up to it but the bottom line was ‘I cannot find my mojo, which would be fine if we were approaching the Christmas break but that was nearly 6 weeks ago now!” I acknowledged her for her honesty.  This was our first catch up since the break as she had wanted to have some much needed time out and enjoy the space this gave her both mentally and physically.  Now this statement worried her as she felt like she did not appear to have the mojo or desire to crack on with things in her business. So how do you go about locating your mojo? […]

If you change nothing…nothing will change

By |January 23rd, 2012|Business, Career, Life|0 Comments

Imagine being on a train.  You know where it is heading, how many carriages it has, what stops have gone by so far and what stops are ahead of you.  Feels safe.  Secure in the knowledge you will reach your chosen destination.  Now imagine someone asking you to get off that train.  Step onto another.  With a blindfold on!  No idea what the journey looks like.  Not quite sure where the train will stop. How would you feel now? […]
